Photographer and film maker living in France. After a long career in London, my wife and I have settled in the Vendee, where we run residential digital photography courses with a strong gastronomic flavour.
Hi there. Giclée printing is very common in professional laboratories and print houses. It’s used by artists and photographers who needed very accurate colour reproduction and the giclée system offers a vast range of tiny tone changes which makes for very intense images. particularly if they are printed on fine art papers such as those made by Hahnemuhle…a German company whose papers are used by photographers worldwide.
Thank you for the explanation. There is a guy in town who used to work for the only professional photography printer in town and he is now starting up his business because the original business closed. I will have to ask him if he has this capability.
Hi Cornelia. Thanks for the comment and glad you liked the work. I trained as a painter at art school before I went into photography…in fact I didn’t train as a photographer at all. although I did film making as a subsidiary subject in my painting degree course. However, in my final year at art school I was offered the chance of becoming assistant to a leading Vogue photographer in London….I jumped at the opportunity as I was really fed up with art school. So, since I’ve been living in France I’ve rediscovered the painter in me and combined it with my digital skills. You can see more of my work on https;//www.rogerstowellpictures.com.
Bon jour, Roger, thank you for your kind response and sharing some of your amazing career as an outstanding photographer and artist. It’s wonderful that you have picked up and rediscovered the painter within you, for some reason I could not get on your website given above. Keep following your inner voice as a painter. Have a great inspiring week.
Hi Cornelia….I’m wondering why the link doesn’t work…..however, I just copied and pasted https://www.rogerstowellpictures.com and that connected with the site. Give it a go.
Roger, thank you so much, I finally got on your website. Your drawings remind of different styles in the history of art, it truly shows that you have studied art, they absolutely speak to me. Because I am catlover , “Molly on the chair” is my favorite, but I love all of them. Have a creative and inspiring week.
I wish you well with this. I hadn’t heard of this type of printing before. Now I’m wondering if anyone local does it.
