My Instagram account has been hacked, which means that I have lost control of how the hackers may use my food pictures ( like the one above) and, worst of all, pictures of my family and grandchildren. I’d be grateful if any of my blog followers who may follow my Instagram account ( Roger Stowell) could put a comment on my most recent Instagram post saying that “This account has been hacked and Roger is no longer in control of the content”. I’m making this request as Instagram/Facebook have absolutely no interest in taking any steps to prevent hackers or in helping those who have been hacked.
Many thanks
Roger
Hopefully I’ll get going on some more food posts once I can get away from the sunny garden:)
This account has been hacked and Roger is no longer in control of the content”.
Hi Rob…it’s my Instagram account that has been hacked not my blog!…can you put this comment on my instagram account Roger Stowell and not roger.stowell.35
Will do.
Thanks, Nadia
Will do Roger !
Cheers, Dick…and thanks for your support
Wish to God I could – Instagram has not talked to me for some four weeks. Best of British!
Cheers, Eha
So why are you opening another Instagram account? And what do the hackers get from this? Surely they can steal the photos without actually hacking the account. After all, they must be reasonably tech-savvy. Anyway, I’m sorry to learn of this. If it does nothing else, it must surely disrupt any marketing efforts you might be making.
Exactly.. completely messes it up. New account is roger.stowell.35. They can’t do much with the pics as they’re such low res…. just annoying
I read this the morning and I wasn’t sure whether your website had been hacked and someone was making mischief, or whether it was genuine. I’ve now followed the new Insta account – do you want us all to unfollow the old one? Hackers are such scumbags.
Linda, hi. Thanks for your support….it would be good if you unfollowed the old account. I don’t really understand what the point is of hacking an Instagram account. The pictures are such low res that you couldn’t use them for much else….or just malicious. That’s our world, so let’s get on with it. Thanks again:)
You’re welcome. I’m having a lot of trouble at the moment with content scrapers over at HuffPost. It’s such a pain but not much you can do about it as they just pillage the RSS feed. My sympathies to you. Lx
I’d never heard of this until I just googled it….so depressing
Blinking annoying, is what it is. They flog ads on their sites on the back of other people’s hard work. Very hard to police as they’re usually outside normal jurisdictions.
I was going to say “unbelievable”….. but it’s only too believable..
How did you find out you were hacked? That’s outrageous and annoying. I will look for your new account and comment on the old on.
Hi…I received an email from Instagram asking if it was me that had just changed my identification email, which of course it wasn’t. Instagram are completely hopeless at giving any support or, in fact, giving a damn. Anyway, my new site is roger.stowell.35 and is up and running with ONE picture!…thanks for your support guys:)
Have you tweeted and shamed them publicly? I bet you aren’t the only one irritated. But that is Facebook’s MO. Frustrating.
The problem is… like Trump and Boris, they just don’t care …
So very true.
Ugh, I’m so very sorry. 😦 This happened to a friend of mine, just awful.
Cheers….thanks for the support….so annoying when it actually happens
Roger, I was hacked about a year or so ago and I was able to request a password reset (sent to my email account) – reset my password and enable dual-factor authentication which sends a code to my iPhone everytime I want to sign in or make any changes.
Sorry to hear what happened to you and looking forward to reconnecting with you on IG!
Cheers – christian
Cheers Christian … thanks
I avoid Instagram, Facebook and Twitter like the plague.
I’m sorry you got hacked.
Great picture on pink! No doubt it’s sunshine, but it has something a little reminiscent of the 1950s and tungsten (in a good way).
Cheers, MD… glad you like it.. and thanks
Roger, I’m so sorry to hear this! I hope somehow your wonderful content can be protected. I will go and post the comment now. Keep us updated please.
thanks so much, Patricia….I guess they can do pretty much what they want with the content.it’s not great
How did you discover you had been hacked?
I received an email from Instagram saying that my email address ( identity) had been changed ( to a Russian email). Instagram stupidly recommended that I change it back which,of course, I couldn’t as the owner of that very complex email address had taken over my account. I don’t understand why they do it. I’ve run into a couple of other Instagrammers to whom it’s happened but none of us can make any sense of it…..just malicious, I think.
“Instagram saying that my email address ( identity) had been changed ( to a Russian email). Instagram stupidly recommended that I change it back which,of course, I couldn’t as the owner of that very complex email address had taken over my account. I don’t understand why they do it”….
Roger, I read today (on the Guardian, I believe, that Instagram admits there’s a problem as thousands of users have been locked out of their accounts similarly … with an *.ru email address. I’d contact them again, restate the facts, and insist that they restore access to your account.
The problem is that you CANNOT contact Instagram….. they have made it like that on purpose
It has to be done on your phone’s Instagram app. Click the little person icon, then the upper 3 dots or gear icon, and go to Options –> Support –> Report a problem. That’s what I used when someone created an account using my email address. They fixed the problem in 2-days, and I could create an account using MY email address. The contact form goes to Facebook Support, and they’re the people who deal with it.
The problem is that I received an email from Instagram telling me that my email had been changed and to revert it… which was of course impossible as I couldn’t access my personal account details. Believe me I’ve tried. So many people on Instagram have recounted the same thing to me… which is why it’s in the Guardian…instagram and FB have lost control… unless it’s to their benefit.
Love it!! Thanks for sharing!!!
cheers…thanks for looking
Hope you had the hacking problem resolved… I recently had a huge problem with Booking.com though I don’t think my account was hacked. Either way, not nice.
Nightmare…resolved though😀
