My photography isn’t limited to food and cooking as previous posts might suggest. Much as I enjoy anything to do with good food and creating it, my real love is for image making and writing about it. This October I shall be running a photography workshop in the corner of France in which I have lived for the last 20 years. The aim of the workshop is to share my enthusiasm for digital photography, to debunk a few myths and to stimulate people to advance a few steps deeper into the pleasures of the digital darkroom…….and to have a few ideas for you instagrams, of course.
The picture above is the cover of my new book*…..by clicking on this link http://www.blurb.com/books/8836465-france-2014-18 you can have a complete preview of the book which may give you some idea of the path along which I would hope to lead you.
Details of the dates, price, location of the workshop can be found on the following link which includes booking forms: https://www.biginfrance.com/roger

- The price of the book is set by Blurb.com and is beyond my control and does not reflect my profit which is 10€.
That pricing structure must be incredibly frustrating, given the cover price. It looks like an amazing book though and your photography course is a serious lure – sadly, life as a jobbing freelance means both are a bit out of my reach. Sincere good luck with both, though.
Thanks, Linda…was I to sell a copy I would receive a juicy profit of 10€….crazy😀
Bonkers.
I’m looking forward to seeing you in October. If I can go home with one photo as good as the best in your book, I’ll be a happy student. But I agree with Linda. At 2euros a page, does Blurb ever actually sell a book? And if you earn 10 euros, what do they take home?
It’s a frustrating mystery… they produce great quality printing and binding but at a mad price. I think it helps us understand publishing a bit… writers who sell twns of thousands of books don’t make a cent … you have to sell hundreds of thousands
I haven’t printed a book with them in five years or so. It appears that the prices have more than doubled since then. So I would look for an outside explanation. Maybe someone bought Blurb and has a huge debt to pay off, something like that. Surely their production costs have not doubled, not in just five years.
Same here…..last one I did was probably 5 years ago….never imagined this book would be priced so crazily.
Do buy the occasional lottery ticket or two! The first small windfall will go to Blurb with somewhat clenched teeth 🙂 ! Thank you for gently pointing me towards the Instagram I resisted for so long . . . . just love your posts and have rediscovered quite a few old pals I had thought to have left social media . . .
I’ve never won a penny on any sort of gambling…..I just hope a few more people decide to come to the workshop…..:)
Sorry – I meant I usually have a series ticket going . . . . and, yes, rather regularly I have had small wins – have not had to pay for a new ticket for years and put a few dollars into the purse as well . . . 🙂 ! . . . . So, am quite seriously counting on enough coming in thru’ ;that door’ in a month or two !!!!
Now I understand!….I’m willing you to win…..fingers still crossed:)
Congratulations on your book – the image on the cover is amazing. Hope you get rewarded properly for your creativity.
Thanks, Sally…..really appreciate this…
