Still waiting for the green man…

forest_landscapes_lab_2093This is the forest that acts as the backcloth to our lives. We look out of the windows of the house, or from the window of the car as we go about our daily business, searching for the first signs of green that confirm the rumours that a new season of warmth and growth is nearly upon us. The awaited harbinger will be a soft  green line running across the the tops of the trees making a clean demarcation between sky and forest. We’re still waiting.

  1. I love that watercolour line!

  2. Ros Long says:

Such a lovely backcloth to have too!

  3. John harvey says:

Us too. Ice on the pond again this morning. It’s still the season of comfort food and log fires (four days of logs left)

  4. Andy Szpuk says:

That’s such a peaceful scene, looks wonderful, so removed from the hustle and bustle of the city.

  5. Roger, here in New England we too stand and wait. That groundhog must have the DNA of a weatherman, for they both share an inability to make accurate predictions.

  6. Lovely shot, Roger.

  7. Beautiful, love the watery blue sky too!

  8. Mad Dog says:

There’s ven sunshine in London today, but it’s not warm yet 😉

  9. ChgoJohn says:

Very nice photo, Roger. I think we’re all looking for signs of Spring. I check my rose bushes hoping to see signs of buds on the canes. Only when every bush has “sprung” do I feel confident saying that Spring is here — but I’ll still check the skies for snow clouds. This is Chicago, after all.

  10. We are cloaked in a dense and surly unrelenting fog.. I will watch for your green line.. I hope you photograph it for us! xx

  11. Karen says:

I’m still waiting for that faintest green myself although the willow branches have a yellow cast to them now.
