I remember the excitement of “overdoing it”, the anticipation of “going too far” and the sweet smell of excess. The resilience of youth to absorb punishment in the form of recreational stimulants is Olympian when viewed in the rear vision mirror as I motor on through my life. Speed limits have a different connotation nowadays and day dreaming has taken the place of artificially induced hallucinations. Much as I would like to be going faster I have at last started to look at the breathtaking scenery through which I am passing which for so much of my life has been but a blur in my peripheral vision. I slugged most of the glass down without realising that it was nectar, but luckily there’s some left which I mean to savour to the last drop. My glass in still half full.
The sweet smell of excess….

This glass looks more than half full. Lovely image and positive thoughts
I think it’s more than half full too:)
Great post! I think many of us speed through life, always in a hurry to get to the next destination. I’m still learning to slow down and savour the present moment 🙂
It took me too long to slow down – I kept mistaking the accelerator for the brake:)
Love it, the photo and the message……..very resonant for me too. Yep, happy to say I’m still very much a my glass is (at least) half full soul. Most days that is.
You’ve got to keep it that way:)
I’ve always liked those little carafes and glasses that were more than half full 🙂
They’re the best sort:)
Great post! I love a positive outlook 🙂
Thanks for that:)
Lovely, both the thoughts and the wine…
As a lifelong Daydreamy Gal, it’s nice to see some of you Rush-Rush types come ’round to my way of thinking…all the disdain of the past is worth it when their eyes brighten, and they say, “Was this ALWAYS here? What HAVE I been missing?” 🙂
I’m the one with the scales falling:)
Gorgeous photo! My glass is still half full too :).
Thanks for that – keep that glass topped up:)
May that always be the case!
Many thanks for the good wishes:)
I am printing this out and putting it on my fridge. It sums up how I feel, perfectly. Thanks, Roger.
Excellent – thanks:)
Pity those who do not live long enough to realize it’s the journey that truly matters. Thanks for the reminder, Roger, and for another exquisite photo.
Nicely put:)
love this photo. I think your glass is more than half full!
Well I’m not going to rush it:)
This catches you at a frantically busy moment, you read, scroll back to reread, and smile at the infinite sense for yourself also . . .
🙂
Great picture! Moderation is a good thing – it stops us ending up like Robert Palmer 😉
I photographed him, with Elkie Brook, for the cover of Vinegar Joe’s “Five Star General”. I’ve only just realised that he’s dead. How did he end up?
I saw you mentioned that on another forum. He died years ago of a heart attack – he was only abut 54!
I heard a funny story (back in the 80’s) where he called a doctor because he had terrible pain in his nose and thought he’d burnt away his septum from overindulging in cocaine.
The doctor came and examined him and the diagnosis was crabs…!
That should have taught him to keep his nose out of other peoples’ business.:)
ROFL – well it gives an indication of how fast living he was 😉
Lovely post and glad to hear you see the world as half full (but your wine glass mostly empty).
My wine glass is full on this very beautiful and hot Saturday so all’s well with the world:)
Sounds like bliss to me.
At least three-quarters full and, best of all, in beautiful light.
You’re right – I didn’t realise it was three quarters full. That’s even better:)
Fantastic piece and a vivid shot. I love it when you and Mad when you get together! Your comments today are hilarious! I am doing my home work this afternoon. I think all will become clear very soon! c
That Dog is certainly a dude! Thanks for the nice words about the picture and we’ll talk about the home work later.
Sometimes, the day is a blur for me so I can really appreciate this post. GREAT SHOT!
And they get faster as the years pass..
