It’s rare to find a fly working so well as a photographic model. This one posed in several different positions, allowing me to focus and sort out aperture, etc without moving, apart from rubbing his hands together in anticipation of a large meringue for tea. I’m afraid it didn’t end well for him, or her – it’s difficult to tell the difference, even this close up.
One hell of an optimistic fly….

Ah the fly covers save many a dish here.
I do hope you weren’t exploiting it 😉
Model release and will were duly signed Roger
That’s good, you don’t want it’s agent coming after you 😉
Ha! Maybe he was trying to impress you, a la Charlotte’s web.
(new lyrics to an old song) He’s got hiiigh hopes, hiiigh hopes, high in the sky, meringue pie hopes!
😉
He tried singing his way out of it, but he got his in the end
What lens did you use?
50 mm on the D90
It didn’t happen to be saying, “Aidez-moi!” did it?
My feeling was that it might have been “Spanish fly”
If it´s flies you need as models, I can give you an exclusive here where we live…so many of the damn things. They seem to prefer goats to meringues here though!
I’m moving a goat into the kitchen, it might work better than fly paper
Now why didn´t we think of that?! Would make a great photo too…
Perhaps the fly thought if it was very still, nobody would notice a little discreet meringue tasting.
I think you may well be right
I’m glad it hasn’t survived to sue you – everyone has privacy for their face under French law, and I can clearly see this one’s big eyes!
I’m hoping the fly has contacted an avocat before I can settle out of court
Great shot! That fly seems to be a natural in the modeling department.
Great photograph Roger!
Hi Roger – You are the nominee of the Versatile Blogger award. My home page has details 🙂
I cannot blame the fly for trying 🙂
Love that you *always* seem to have a camera (or three) at hand. I guess the fly was so mesmerized that it didn’t pay attention to *you*… love your photos!!! (Oh and the meringue looks dandy too!! Mmmm…)
Thanks for that. I’ve got to get the other meringue made for the Mont Blanc ready for Christmas
Oh I love how you brought in The Fly, I have not seen him do anything in ages! Though your makeup artist somewhat overdid the mascara.( You KNOW what they are like!) Did he look at you as he rubbed his hands together and squeaked ‘Help Me!. Help Me!’ Did you even hear him? Method actors (scoff!) c
You’re insane – I don’t speak Fly (well, not fluent Fly) – so how could I know what he squeaked?
