Whilst in the land of Morpheus, last night, it occurred to me that Cooking is undoubtedly the C word. The catalogue of delicious C’s is redoubtable and, after a while, tedious – here goes: champagne, Chateau (every delicious one of them), cabernet franc, cabernet sauvignon, clairette, claret, Corton Charlemagne, Calvados, Cognac, Chinon, cream, creme anglaise and fraiche, cheese, Camembert, chevre, Cantal, crottin, Comte, calf’s liver, chorizo, Charolais, chocolate, cocoa, coconut, cocos (haricots demi sec which are delicious), chaudrée, caviar, cod, crab, coques, crayfish, calamari, cassecroute, cereals, corn, cabbage, carrots, capsicum, calabrese, catsup, conger, clementines, cherries, cavolo nero, catfish, confiture, cobnuts, corn, capellini, ceps, colcanon, cumin, coriander, chili, chilies, curry, charcuterie, cassoulet, canard, chicken, chops, chips, chipolatas, chipotle, Chaource, cottage cheese, cantuccini, cranberries, Coulommiers, condiments, clafoutis, concighlie, coffee, chervil, canneloni, canoli, carbonara, chestnuts, chitarra, couscous, calaloo, consomme, couenne,  crevettes, clams, chowder, coulis,  and now I’ve got to go and finish a casserole and bake a cake. Another day at the coalface.
