Matinée idyll

It’s hard to believe that opening a shutter in the morning can create such a feeling of happiness at being here. There’s a list of chores to be completed which, on a morning such as  this,  will not be tiresome. The fire to be cleared and reset, bringing in wood and paraffin, making shortcrust pastry ( I think prunes d’Agen and Armagnac may well be involved in the finished dish), taking pictures and writing my book. I was sent an interesting post yesterday with a thought for the day which, though relevant, isn’t happening to me yet: “You have to fall back on technique when you run out of inspiration” To look out of our back door, or to enjoy the smell of cooking coming from the kitchen certainly inspires me daily. So hey ho, hey ho it’s off to work I go……..
