Feeling happy to be alive on a morning such as this hardly does justice to the pleasure that it brings to me. My senses are gently massaged by the sun creating warm tones on the terracotta, the rustle of birds nesting in the wall behind me and the sound of their mates chattering in the olive trees together with the soft wind in the neighbouring poplars creating a passable imitation of the sea. The world is in bud. This seemingly perfect morning was made even better by my inadvertent discovery, in the now cold oven, of the meringues that I had made last night and forgotten.
